• If somebody uses the microscope after you, follow the standby protocol
  • Do not use your home folder (c:\users\<you login>) to save acquired data. Use D:\User Data\ for image data. Beware that this is no place to store data for longterm. We clean image data regularly.
    Save your data on your external memory stick or harddrive


Start Protocol

  1. switch on the three green buttons on the main switch board: PC/Microscope, Scanner Power and Laser Power
  2. turn the Laser Key to the position ON
  3. turn on the Epifluorescent Light Source
  4. log in to your account
  5. double click on LAS AF programme icon
  6. when asked specify configuration to machine and DM6000
  7. initialize microscope stand
  8. ready to go!

Standby Protocol

If someone will use the microscope after you within the next 1-2 hours:

  1. in the LAS AF software go to the configuration panel and decrease the laser power to 0% (no need to tick off the laser check boxes)
  2. exit the LAS AF software
  3. log off the computer
  4. clean the objectives


Shutdown Protocol

Transfer your data on an external saving device since data on the PC computer will regularly be deleted. 

  1. in the LAS AF configuration window, decrease the laser power to 0% (no need to tick off the laser boxes)
  2. close the LAS AF software
  3. log out from your account
  4. turn off the Epifluorescent Light Source
  5. switch off the PC/Microscope button
  6. switch off the Scanner Power button
  7. turn  the Laser Key to the position OFF
  8. leave the Laser Power button on to allow the laser to cool down for at least  20 minutes!!!
  9. In the meantime:
    - clean up your stuff
    - clean the objectives
    - put the cover on the microscope
    - make sure the immersion liquid bottles are closed properly.
