Our team will gladly assist you in your research. The library is open to all. Most of our library stock is on open shelves, but you might need to ask the reception desk to access some documents.
The following equipment is available:
Persons with a University of Fribourg account can use the library WiFi with their own laptop.
Lockers are available upon a deposit of 60 CHF - contact the reception desk.
Use of the library is free of charge.
The loan service is open:
From Monday to Friday
8:00 am. To 7:00 pm
The library is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
The CampusCard of the University of Fribourg also serves as a library card. Persons without a CampusCard who are at least 14 years old and resident in Switzerland can obtain a library card. For this purpose, an identity card must be presented and a designated enrollment form must be completed. Online enrollment is also possible.
Works with a yellow dot cannot be borrowed and are reserved for consultation on site. The loan conditions correspond to those of the BCU.
The loan period of a document can be extended for up to five times online or at the lending desk for as long as it has not already been reserved by another client.
Documents that belong to the Dokpe collection must be returned to the Dokpe.
Exception: when the library is closed for sveral weeks (e.g. in summer) the documents can be returened to the white collection box at the entry.
Only documents availble for loan can be pre-ordered through the Rero Explore catalogue. Once a loaned and reserved document has been returned, you will be notified by email. The reserved document should now be picked up within 10 days.
The overdue fines correspond to those of the BCU.
The costs will be billed from the eleventh day after the return deadline of the document (CHF 0.50 per document per day) - regardless of receipt of reminders. 45 days after the return deadline, the library will generate an invoice for the undelivered document. The user will then have to pay the new purchase price of the document, the processing costs and the callback costs incurred (see Lost or damaged document).
