Econophysics... Problem Sets (Exercises)

posted by OFearraigh's pictureOFearraigh, 14 February 2013

I made a tutorial in Econophysics at my uni. I have three books on the subject, but none of them have end-of-chapter exercises. Because this is such a quantitative field, I feel that it would be extremely beneficial to have some sort of "homework" to do; simply reading the mathematics behind the models just doesn't seem sufficient. Anyone got anything? ...

I think that Krugman's argument below is closer to the truth than Mankiw's notion of the ever expanding pie. A lot of people are getting no pie and never will. Capitalism won after the Fall of The Wall but ordinary people have not won. We're back to 19th century conditions of low wages, no unions, and no benefits. And no jobs either.    ...
Trade and budget deficit

People who say that the U.S. National Debt is manageable because it's less than the GNP are not thinking clearly. You can't pay the debt via the GNP. A danger is that foreign interests use the hemorage of Dollars (over $13 trillion because of a 2/1 import/export imbalance for a decade) will try to use the money to buy up U.S. assets....
