MAPPING COMPLEXITY PROJECT

We invite applications for a Post-doctoral Research Associate position (1+1 years) in Network Science-Mapping Complexity at the University of Barcelona (Spain). The successful candidate will be required to join us in the investigation of the theoretical foundations of complex networks embedded in hidden metric spaces to get insights into the connection between the structure and function of complex systems. She/he will also collaborate in mapping real complex systems in different domains with a focus on biology, economy, and sociotechnology.

The position is funded by the grant "Mapping complexity: Embedding networks in hidden metric spaces" awarded by the James S. McDonnell Foundation 21st Century Science Initiative in Studying Complex Systems – Scholar Award, 2013.

LASAGNE PROJECT

One Post-doctoral Research Associate position (1+1 years) is available at the University of Barcelona (Spain), to work on the field of complex networks/ network science.

We are looking for strongly motivated candidates with excellent skills in theoretical modeling, programming/simulation, data collection and analysis, and a keen interest in multidisciplinary research. The candidate should have a PhD in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computational Science, or any closely related discipline. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required. The successful candidate will join the PhysComp2 node of the project LASAGNE, founded by the European Commission, which aims to develop theoretical foundations of multilayer spatio-temporal generalized networks and to validate them on real world applications. The successful candidate must be able to work independently although she/he is also expected to work in close collaboration with the LASAGNE-UB team, Dr. M. Ángeles SerranoDr. Marián Boguñá, and Prof. Albert Díaz-Guilera.
