The Pandemic of Argumentation: collective volume on argumentation in COVID-19 times co-edited by Steve Oswald now out

We are happy to announce the publication of The Pandemic of Argumentation, a collective volume co-edited by Dr Steve Oswald, which appeared as vol. 43 of Springer's book series Argumentation Library. This is a freely available open-access volume, funded by the European project COST Action CA-17132 (European Network for Argumentation and Public Policy Analysis), which Dr Oswald vice-chairs.

The 18 chapters of the volume address various communicative aspects of the current COVID-19 pandemic as well as the epidemic of misinformation from the perspective of argumentation theory, which is uniquely placed to understand and account for the challenges of public reason as expressed through argumentative discourse. The book thus focuses on the extent to which the forms, norms and functions of public argumentation have changed in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr Oswald, together with Prof Marcin Lewi?ski (chair of the COST Acrtion) and Prof. Fabio Paglieri (chair of Working Group 3 of the COST Action), discuss the contents of this volume and the broader impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on public discourse, in an interview available here.
