The output of publically funded research should be publicly accessible. This principle is increasingly gaining traction in the international scientific community.
Free and unrestricted access to scientific research output via the Internet requires the researchers to submit their publication “open access”, so that they can be read and downloaded without the need of journal subscriptions.
This applies to:
- Peer-reviewed as well as non-peer-reviewed articles
- Book chapters
- Conference proceedings
The University of Fribourg encourages the electronic accessibility of all scientific publications, following the principles of the Open Access movement.
