    Description

The course introduces to important aspects and principles of preventive and health promoting interventions, with an emphasis on the psychological dimension. The goal of the course is to provide students with an overview over important strategies in prevention and health promotion, their strengths and limitations, and important elements of intervention designs. A first part of the course provides an overview over the scientific background, terminology and concepts in prevention. Furthermore, important intervention approaches, intervention targets, and target populations are discussed. A second part reviews intervention design elements, and the problems such programs face, in more detail. Important questions to ask and principles to follow when planning or adapting preventive and health-promoting interventions will be discussed. Based on realistic examples of preventive or health promotion goals, students elaborate strategies and ideas for possible intervention approaches.
