Over the past decades particularly, technical advances revolutionized the possibilities at multiple scales of how "life" can be studied. While 20 years ago it took years to sequence a single gene, it is today possible to sequence entire genomes in a few days. Today new imaging techniques enable us to see and visualize biological processes as they happen. In that context we have a strong commitment to provide an outstanding research environment in life sciences with strong dedication for excellent teaching. We offer:
- Passion, professionalism and diversity through our 29 research groups
- Cutting-edge technology through our inter-departmental platforms
- Flexibility and interdisciplinarity through our Master & PhD programmes
- Close collaboration with the Fribourg Botanical Garden that is an essential part of our Department and also with many regional & international partners.
