The Department of Economics at Kiel University is searching to fill the position of a  


Lecturer (Teaching Assistant)


with special teaching responsibilities


on a fixed term contract starting on 1 October 2017 and ending on 30 September 2021 at 50% of a full-time equivalent (38.7 hours per week). This position is part of a special university teaching program (‘Hochschulpakt 2020’). The salary is based on the public administration salary scheme according to group 13 TV-L (former IIa BAT, subject to further regulations). The teaching load is 4.5 hours per semester.


This position is designated to contribute to teaching quality and to cope with an increase in the number of students, especially caused by the shortening of high school education in Germany and the resulting temporary increase in university enrollment.


The successful candidate should hold a degree in economics (Master, Diploma, or equivalent) with a quantitative orientation or any other degree with an appropriate profile and demonstrated interest in economics and finance.  Experience in teaching is desirable. The applicant is expected to be fluent in English. Command of German will be an advantage. Teaching will be conducted mainly in the field of financial economics. Candidates with a prior specialization in this field will be given priority.
