Job Opening: PostDoc / Research Assistant

Professor Thomas Lux at the Department of Economics, Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (Germany) seeks to fill a post-doc position, initially for two years, with the possibility of a two-year extension pending a positive evaluation. The salary is based on the German public pay scale (TV-L 13, previously BAT IIa) and the weekly workload is 38.7 hours.

The ideal candidate will have recently graduated with a PhD in quantitative economics or a related field, and is expected to contribute to one of the following research areas:

Estimation of agent-based models

Analysis of network structures in financial markets

Volatility modeling and risk management

In addition, the successful candidate will have to teach two courses per semester in economics and/or quantitative finance at the Bachelor and/or Masters level, with each course carrying a weekly teaching load of two hours. The successful applicant will also have to take over administrative duties.

Recent PhD’s from fields other than quantitative economics/finance, in particular from physics, mathematics, computer science, or engineering, are explicitly encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate an active research interest in the above topics.
