Postdoctoral fellow in Complex Systems

The Complex Systems Team is looking for a person interested in developing mathematical models for energy markets. The research is being done in cooperation with the Polish Transmission System Operator.  The main task is to develop (i) computationally effective methods of designing sustainable energy market structures (uniform/zonal/nodal) and (ii) methods of market structures assessment. The research is on the border between pure science and practical applications (mathematics, power industry, national economy, physics).  The position is intended for a computer scientist, physicist or mathematician with strong skills in computational and analytical methods and simulation. The candidate should have completed or be in the process of completing a PhD or equivalent qualification.

Prospective employer

The Complex Systems Team (CST) is based on the multidisciplinary personnel involved in high‐performance computing and doing research in the relevant application fields in complex systems, especially concerning energy distribution, and in econo- and social sciences. The group works within the framework of the Computing Centre Świerk (CIS) project that is building and running at the National Centre for Nuclear Research in Poland ( The CIS is  EU‐ and government‐financed project (25 M € in 2010‐15) aimed at building computing infrastructure for the energy program in Poland.
