Public reading of Louise Glück's work, 20 October, 17:15, MIS 3115

(An invitation from Prof. Austenfeld)

Dear students, dear colleagues, dear poetry lovers,

My poetry seminar and I will stage a small celebration of Louise Glück’s work next Tuesday, October 20th, at 17:15 in MIS 3115.  We want to offer public readings of some of Glück’s poems as a way to give space and time to this particular American writer who has been recognized by the Nobel Academy "for her unmistakable poetic voice that with austere beauty makes individual existence universal."

These are difficult times. Hence, in addition to the members of my poetry seminar, we can welcome about 25 guests in MIS 3115.  We will need to take your name and contact information for COVID-tracing purposes. Sorry, apéros are not permitted….   But if you have a few lines of Glück’s work that you would like to offer yourself, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.

If you are not familiar with her work, I recommend this site: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poets/louise-gluck

If you already know that you would like to attend, please send an email to Jeannette.Widmer@unifr.ch to announce your intention.

With all good wishes,

Thomas Austenfeld
