Our research projects

The Mineralogy-Petrology research group studies fluid-rock interaction processes within the Earth’s crust and upper mantle from mid-ocean ridge to subduction zone environments and to low-temperature continental sites of active serpentinization. We link the processes that take place on the submicrometer scale with the effects they have on the global scale. Our main techniques are high-resolution in situ techniques such as SEM, EMPA, SIMS, and µ-XANES combined with bulk rock geochemical signatures such as stable isotope signatures of carbon and sulfur, major and trace element signatures, and bulk rock mineralogy. Follow us below on what we are currently working on.
