Press release on the foundation of the working group
Orthodox theologians in the German-speaking world

On 20 February 2020 in Vienna the "Working Group of Orthodox Theologians in the German-speaking Area" was founded. Twenty Orthodox experts from Germany, Austria and Switzerland gathered on 19 and 20 February 2020 for a workshop at the University of Vienna and subsequently founded the working group. Dr. Stefanos Athanasiou, member of the Scientific Board of the Study Centre for Eastern Churches, was among the founding members.

This working group sees itself as an association of German-speaking Orthodox scholars who are engaged in research and teaching on the theology of the Orthodox Church. It should serve the scientific exchange as well as the networking in the German-speaking area. For the year 2021 a further working meeting in connection with a symposium is planned.
