The lecture discusses structural changes in Euro- pean trade policy in the light of global value changes and enhanced needs of regulatory cooperation. It addresses the need for broader participation of civil society and national parliaments in the formation of trade policy and suggests the introduction of a European Trade Act. The lecture discusses the impli- cations of Brexit for transatlantic relations of NAFTA, the EU and EFTA States, including Switzerland.
