Prof. Daniel Kraus

Kraus Legal & IP
Nationality: Swiss
Course: Intellectual Property Law

Daniel Kraus could have been an architect or a diplomat. He became a professor of innovation law and intellectual property, perfectly combining his passions. After working as an intellectual property lawyer in Geneva, Daniel was hired by the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property. In 2004, he joined the University of Neuchâtel, where he was appointed Professor of Innovation Law in 2010. He is a partner in the Vialex law firm (www.vialex.ch) since 2016 and the owner of Kraus Legal & IP (www.kraus.pro).

He is a deputy judge at the Swiss Federal Patent Court since 2012. Daniel supports a global, critical approach of innovation, notably through the Pôle de propriété intellectuelle et de l'innovation (www.unine.ch/pi2), the Master interfacultaire en innovation at the University of Neuchâtel (www.unine.ch/innovation) and several research projects that he has carried out with funding from the EU or the Swiss National Research Fund. A creative and entrepreneurial spirit himself, he is behind a number of projects, including www.hyphead.ch.  Together with his team, he recently set up Innocube, a platform for executive training in innovation law and management (go.unine.ch/innocube). Daniel is invited to various universities and colleges, where he is an appreciated speaker and moderator.
