This course aims to study European Union monetary policy and to compare it with Swiss monetary policy. It comprises three parts. The first part focuses on the monetary policy strategy of the Swiss National Bank. The second part concentrates on the European Union monetary system. The third part analyses the European Central Bank monetary policy strategy. A special attention is given to monetary issues associated with the enlargement of the European Union as well as to the monetary relations between Switzerland and the euro area.
