Qualified applicants must have an outstanding track record of independent research in a field of mathematics with strong potential for applications, such as (but not limited to): PDE, dynamical systems, discrete mathematics, applied algebra, mathematical statistics, data science, numerical analysis, scientific computing.
The successful candidate will develop an internationally recognized competitive research program sustained by external funding. Teaching experience at university level is expected.

PhD Position in Probability Theory
The Probability group of the Department of Mathematics invites applications for one
under the supervision of Prof. Ioan Manolescu. Candidates must have a strong background in probability; knowledge of statistical mechanics is welcome. Knowledge of French or German is desirable.
Duties include a moderate teaching load (exercise sessions) and occasional library service. We offer a friendly working environment, integration into the Swiss Doctoral Program of Mathematics, and an attractive salary.

Ph.D. Positions in Mathematics
in any of the research areas represented at the Department of Mathematics such as Geometry, Topology, Algebra, Combinatorics, Geometric Analysis, Probability Theory, or Numerical Analysis.
Candidates must have a M.Sc. degree in Mathematics or an equivalent education. A good command of German or French or the willingness to learn one of the two languages within a relatively short period of time is required.
The PhD positions are on a full-time basis and come with a competitive salary and teaching assistantship. PhD students are integrated in the Swiss Doctoral Program of Mathematics, jointly offered with neighboring universities.
