Cornelia Wagner is a PhD student in life course epidemiology at the University of Fribourg. In 2014, she moved from Austria to Japan to carry out her undergraduate studies at the University of Tsukuba. As a member of the Laboratory of Applied Entomology and Zoology, she performed research on the immune system of ticks to better understand how they transmit diseases, and was subsequently awarded a BSc in Bioresource Sciences. Her education continued with a MSc in Medical Anthropology at University College London (UCL) where she developed an interest in biosocial approaches to health and illness, in particular for chronic diseases. Her master’s thesis explored the medicalization and de-medicalization of fibromyalgia online. After a year-long internship at the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) in Bern, she now performs epidemiological research and supports the activities of the #PopHealthLab as a Research Assistant.
