A Few Questions to Prof. Guillermo Pedro Acuña

1.    What is your research focus?

Prof. Acuña: "My research is focused on plasmonics and nanophotonics or in other words in controlling and manipulating light at the nanoscale."

2.    What do you find particularly interesting/appealing about our Faculty?

Prof. Acuña: "Due to the interdisciplinary nature of my research, I am particularly interested in the interactions between the Physics, Chemistry and Biology departments together with the AMI and FRIMAT."

3.    What do you wish to achieve here in Fribourg?

Prof. Acuña: "I want to self-assemble optical antennas, using DNA (the so-called DNA origami technique) and metallic and high-dielectric index nanoparticles, capable of controlling and manipulating light at the nanoscale. I want to use those antennas to focus and direct light and to develop sensing and diagnostic platforms."

4.    What is your personal message or passion you would like to share with our students?

Prof. Acuña: "That the University is a great environment to find out what you are really passionate about. So try to be open and interact with people with different backgrounds and interests."
