Viviana Leupin was awarded the Faculty Award for her Master thesis entitled "The neural response to heartbeats determines the emergence of conscious awareness at a sensory threshold". The award acknowledges the best Master Thesis in the Philosophical Faculty and is endowed with CHF 500.
In her thesis, she shows that the response of the brain to the heartbeat predicts how we become consciously aware of an upcoming stimulus.
Viviana is the first laureate from the Psychology Department to receive this award.
