Universities play a key role in the economy by being an engine of innovation.
The function of Swiss universities is based on three pillars:
- the research
- and technology transfer.
At the very heart of the University of Fribourg's mission, technology and knowledge transfer aims to ensure that research results are revalued and applied in the economy and society.
Innovation is the prerogative of companies. It is defined as the marketing of a new product, service or process. Fuelled by inventions and discoveries, innovation thus depends on fundamental and applied research from universities, colleges and research institutions. Technology and knowledge transfer ensures this link between fundamental research and research and development. The University of Fribourg attaches particular importance to the transfer of knowledge, a vector of diffusion for the creation of new products and therefore innovation.
The University of Fribourg actively supports research partnerships with private organisations on the basis of an innovation policy.
