Changing study fields

Below, find the procedures to change your study field for the major or the minor.

  • Changing your major
    Procedure
    1. Before making any changes, please contact the study advisor of the field you would like to switch to.
    2. Check deadlines for switches in major and any particular conditions that may apply. At the Faculty of Science and Medicine, switches in major are only possible at the fall semester. Special conditions apply in particular in Medicine and Sports studies.
    3. Switch your study field in your MyUniFR account (studies  program  change  select new major)
    4. If there are already results, check whether these UEs are also part of the new study plan. In this case, transfer the ECTS on the MyUniFR portal from the old to the new study program.

    Notes regarding the consecutive Master

Registering to the Master is not considered a change in your study field. The switch from the Bachelor to the consecutive Master normally occurs automatically.

    Please email  attestations office if:

    • Multiple options are possible in your study field and you must choose one
    • You wish to study a different field for your Master (in which case a request will be necessary to confirm if you need to meet any particular criteria).
    • You have left the University of Fribourg and unregistered.
  • Changing your minor
    Procedure
    1. Before making any changes, contact the study advisor of the minor you want to switch to.
    2. Check deadlines for switches in major and any particular conditions that may apply. Deadlines for switches in major at the Faculty of Science and Medicine are detailed here; other Faculties may have different deadlines. Special conditions apply in particular in Medicine and Sports studies.

    Notes

Bachelor Students in Sport and motricity must choose a minor for 60 ECTS that can be taught at secondary level II. Some exceptions are possible, but they must be discussed beforehand with the study advisor and a student request must be submitted.

The minors of a Bachelor are not optional studies. Only courses that are taken in addition to the 180 ECTS of the Bachelor or 90/120 ECTS of a Master are considered optional studies.
