Requirements

• Promising scientific record in the area of network science or economic theory with the potential to publish in top academic journals
• Strong mathematical background and advanced programming skills

• Doctoral degree in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Sociology, or a related discipline*

* If the doctoral degree has not been awarded yet, the PhD dissertation has to be submitted before the position starts and the application must include a positive reference letter of the PhD supervisor.

The chair of Applied Microeconomics and Business Economics is looking for a candidate with a strong interest in microeconomics, in particular in the fields of network science, industrial organization, behavioral economics, managerial economics, or game theory.
The position will be part of the chair of Applied Microeconomics and Business Economics, which belongs to the Department of Economics of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences, University of Fribourg in Switzerland. 

The successful candidate has a strong background in microeconomic (or mathematical) methods, a strong motivation to conduct own research, and the ability to teach exercise tutorials that motivate students. The largest part of the working time (more than 50%) is devoted to conducting own research and to receiving doctoral training. In addition, supporting the chair in teaching, research-related and administrative tasks is part of this full-time position (100%). The attractive salary remunerates the 100% degree of employment. Participation in international conferences or in doctoral courses, e.g., at the study center Gerzensee (www.szgerzensee.ch) is encouraged and additionally supported. 

Applicants should hold a degree in economics or a related field (including mathematics, sociology, and management), preferably with a specialization in microeconomics. An overall grade of 5.0 according to the Swiss grading system for the Master’s program is generally a minimum requirement. A good command of both English and German is necessary. An der Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität Freiburg (Schweiz) ist eine Professur in Strategischem Management (50%, Open Rank) im Departement für Betriebswirtschaftslehre zu besetzen. The Chair of Development Economics is seeking applications for a 5-year (100%) PhD position. We are looking for a candidate with a strong research interest in microeconomics applied to developing countries. The focus of the position is on research, with a small workload on assistance for teaching and administration of the Chair. Participation to the department’s scientific activities is expected.

As part of a research collaboration with a major Swiss insurance company, the Center for Competitiveness in the Department of Economics at the University of Fribourg is seeking to recruit one post-doc researcher for a 2 years period (3^rd year to be confirmed at a later stage). This researchers will play a crucial role in a collaborative research project titled “Policies and Corporate Strategies for Strengthening the Sustainable Economic and Social Competitiveness of Switzerland.” The project's team is composed of researchers from diverse fields including economics, management, communication, law, and sociology. This initiative is part of a broader cluster called "The Future of Switzerland," consisting of four interlinked research projects, embracing an interdisciplinary approach. The areas that can be addressed will touch on issues of economic and social policies such as smart regions and cities, energy transition, corporate and policy strategies for addressing climate change, the creation of value by businesses, sociological and societal issues related to sustainable development to name just a few examples. The postdoc's expertise in specific domains may also influence the project's directions

• Conduct theoretical and empirical research in the respective fields of the research project(s).
• Organize and facilitate scientific exchanges among researchers from various departments and faculties within the specific research project and across other research projects.
