Double degrees

  • International and European Business

    The Faculty of economics and social sciences together with the EM Strasbourg Business School in France and the University of Pavia in Italy have established two double degree programmes leading to the award of two university Master degrees upon completion of an integrated 120 ECTS programme, with one year in Fribourg and one year in Strasbourg or Pavia. On both diplomas it is mentioned that they are awarded in a double degree programme. Studying in the double degree programme gives students valuable experience abroad, strong intercultural experience, the perspective of professors and lecturers from many different nations and, both a Swiss diploma and a French/Italian diploma from top ranked institutions. With these integrated programmes, students can study one year in the bilingual city of Fribourg in Switzerland, adding the unique Swiss perspective, in an economically sound country that has recently been ranked as the most competitive nation in the world.They are given the opportunity to spend their second year at the business school of the largest university in France, Strasbourg, or at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Pavia, in Italy. The language of the programmes is English. Up to 18 ECTS can be taken in any other language.

    Application
    Candidates must be enrolled in the Master in European Business according to the access requirements of the SES Faculty and the University of Fribourg. They are selected based on application documents that have to be submitted at the Dean’s Office of the SES Faculty until end January of their first year in Master studies to be able to start at the partner university the following autumn semester.

  • Public Economics and Public Finance

    This double degree is a high-quality Master level programme that offers a joint degree of four European partner universities, namely the University of Fribourg, the University of Rennes 1 (France), the University of Tampere (Finland) and the University of Eastern Piedmont (Italy). The four semester programme consists of courses provided by the partner universities and at least one semester is to be accomplished at a host university abroad. The master thesis is co-supervised by members of two universities and successful graduates are awarded two master degrees, one by the University of Fribourg and one by the host university. The master degree gives access to doctoral studies in all partner universities. In Fribourg, the study plan for the MA specialization in “Public Economics and Public Finance” requires 50% of ECTS to be taken in Public Finance and Public Economics, 25% in Quantitative Methods and 25% in other domains of Economics. The master thesis concerns a topic in Public Economics or Public Finance.

    Candidates may apply and are selected after their first successfully accomplished semester in the MA in Economics.

  • Double Diplôme «Accounting and Finance»
    avec l’Université de Caen -Normandie

    Ce double diplôme de 120 ECTS confère un Master in Accounting and Finance de l’Université de Fribourg et un Master Mention Banque Finance Assurance, parcours gestion d’actifs, contrôle des risques et conformité de l’IAE de Caen de l’Université de Caen-Normandie. Le cursus est constitué de 4 semestres, dont une première année à l’Université de Fribourg avec 60 ECTS en cours et une deuxième année à l’Université de Caen en suivant au troisième semestre les cours du programme « Master Gestion d’actifs, Contrôle des risques et Conformité ». Le quatrième semestre se déroule dans le cadre d’un stage de six mois dans une entreprise avec un mémoire de master lié. Chaque étudiant est responsable de rechercher son stage selon les critères définis par l’université de Caen.

    Candidature
    Les candidatures sont à déposer en février après les résultats du 1er semestre obtenu à Fribourg. Les candidats doivent avoir acquis un minimum de 19 ECTS dans le domaine Accounting and Finance et avoir un niveau de langue anglaise et française suffisants.

    The Admissions Delegate will make a decision, in consultation with the double degree academic advisor, after the publication of the Master's grades in February.
