    Description

In order to study the English language from a scientific perspective, some specific methods are required. In this course we will focus on the methodologies associated with fieldwork investigation, basic experimental design, data collection, data analysis, and quantitative analysis. We will see how these methods are put to work when testing a hypothesis and building a theoretical model for some feature of the English language.

This course is primarily intended for students taking the Applied Project in English linguistics in Module 8 of the BALET, it might also be of interest for students doing empirical work for their BA thesis in English linguistics. The course structure will be closely linked to students' individual projects.
