Description In this course the students will focus on the main alpine cryosphere factors such as snow, glaciers and permafrost. The course includes a two day excursion to Zermatt at the beginning of the course in september. In addition to the presentations by the lecturers, the students have to do some exercises related to the individual weekly topics. the course is related to the other core courses in the Master study of physical Geography such as SGG.00443, SGG.00445, SGG.00448, SGG.00449/50 and SGG.00453/54.
Training objectives The students will learn how the alpine cryosphere is related and influenced by the climate system. The main objective is the process understanding and the sensitivity of the cryospheric system to influences and changes within the atmosphere. In addition, the resulting impacts such as natural hazards are discussed. Comments Cours avec exercices et excursion. *1 seule évaluation (session d'été) avec le cours GG.0445 Mountain Geomorphology.
