    Description

    - The topic can be chosen freely by the student but should be discussed with the supervisor.
    - The topic may include cryospheric and/or geomorphological issues, but may cover other fields within the geosciences as well. It is however closely connected to the content of the courses SGG.00441, SGG.00444, SGG.00445 or SGG.00448.
    - The topic can be linked to the MSc thesis but can also be completely independent from the MSc thesis.
    - The project should include the application of modelling and/or measurement and processing techniques introduced during previous courses or tackle any open scientific question related to the respective course contents.
    - The project SHOULD be finished by the end of your 3rd semester in the Master curriculum at latest, and HAS TO BE started before the presentation of the research project for the Master thesis in the SGG.00410 Master thesis seminar (preliminary).
    - Output: synthetic and concise written scientific report.

Training objectives Conducting such a project shall serve the student to be able to apply complex measurement and/or modelling techniques to complex environmental problems (in cryosphere and/or geomorphology domains), and to independently conduct a scientific analysis.
    Comments

This individual project serves as an applied part of the courses SGG.00444 Alpine cryosphere, SGG.00445 Mountain geomorphology, SGG.00448 Modelling of glaciers and permafrost and SGG.00441 Applied geophysical methods. The students can propose their own research project. They are encouraged to apply the measurement and processing techniques introduced during the courses to real-world problems or to tackle any open scientific question related to the topics discussed during the courses. Students are expected to obtain their own results and interpret them accordingly in a concise project.

If you are interested in conducting a project SGG.00443, take contact with one of the teachers of the above mentioned courses after their respective completion.

The project should be finished by the end of your 3rd semester in the Master curriculum at latest, and has to be started before the presentation of the research project for the Master thesis in the SGG.00410 Master thesis seminar (preliminary).
