    Description

This course gives an overview about the basis of plant innate immunity, with a special focus on the molecular aspects. The lectures are combined with a practical course that introduces the students to the most common techniques applied in the field of plant-pathogen interactions, such as plant inoculation, disease resistance scoring, gene expression analysis, and quantification of antimicrobial secondary metabolites and proteins

Training objectives The students will receive a comprehensive and contemporary overview of the molecular basis of plant resistance to pathogens. In addition, they will learn practical aspects on techniques used to monitor resistance reactions in plants and the progression of pathogens in tissues. Finally they will discuss this knowledge in the context of recently published work.
