    Description

The Aptitude Test is a pre-requisite for this course. This is a compulsory course for the BA LET programme. It must be taken before WAP II offered in the spring semester. As a foundation course, it is highly recommended that it be taken in the first year of the Bachelor programme. The overall goal is to give you confidence in expressing yourself clearly using formal English and being able to write unified paragraphs resulting in coherent texts. Additionally students will learn to write with a clear purpose and audience in mind. A variety of academic genres are looked at which may include compare & contrast, expository, extended definition, argumentative and/or analytical texts. Students will start to recognize important differences in style, structure  and mechanics of writing in English compared to the conventions used when writing in their mother tongue. Key elements of this course include:

    • Understanding of the writing process and of academic assignments as writing tasks
    • Improved ability to evaluate your own writing according to relevant criteria
    • Regular practice in writing and rewriting
