    Description

In the spring semester, speakers are partly invited from external institutions, but may also include scientists from the University of Fribourg, by this introducing the students to the research projects currently conducted within the Geography Unit.
Each talk is followed by a discussion, where questions may be asked and certain aspects of the topic in can be discussed in more detail.

    Training objectives

The Geocolloquium in the SP is organised by the scientists of Human and Physical Geography. As in the SA it serves as a scientific platform for internal and external experts from different fields, but now focused on geographic topics. Students will be introduced to scientific problems and debates and the corresponding research projects currently conducted at national and international institutions.

    Comments

    New validation procedure

A presence on 25 geocolloquiums is compulsary in order to validate SGG.00512. In principle, 3 semesters of participation are necessary to validate this course.

The geocolloquiums can be attended during the autumn and/or spring semesters.

At the beginning of the semester, students should download an attendance sheet (here) which is to be validated by the person in charge during each geocolloquium session.

It is a student’s responsibility to obtain this attendance sheet, to fill it in according to the instructions, and to take it to each session for validation.

Once the attendance sheet is complete, students can bring it to the Geography Secretariat for validation in GeFri.

Each student is responsible for their attendance sheet, which will not be replaced in case of loss.
