Description	This course deals with the mutual recognition between the plant and the microbial partner, and with the coordination of their development. In general, the course consists of short introductory lectures followed by critical examination of the recent literature on the topic. The goal is to show how scientific knowledge is generated and interpreted.
Training objectives	After this course you will have acquired the theoretical principles in plant biology from the planning of experiments, the choice of methods (including the essential molecular biological techniques), the analysis of results, the critical dicussion of results, and the organization of a scientific publication. You will also have learned how to present a scientific paper and to critically discuss it. Furthermore, you will have gotten an in depth insight in the fascinating regulatory mechanisms involved in symbiotic interactions.
