Description	This course introduces remote sensing by combining theory and practical application. The physical basis of remote sensing is introduced in a series of lectures. Thereby, the focus is mainly on optical remote sensing. The lectures are alternating with practical exercises. The exercises focus (i) on the basics in locating, processing and analysing remote sensing data, (ii) on own acquisition of remote sensing data using drones, and (iii) the establishment of high-precision digital elevation models based on own data.
Training objectives	The goal of the course is (i) to provide a basic understanding of the strength and limitations of remote sensing and (ii) to enable students to apply a variety of remote sensing data and products in their own work. Throughout the entire course we use only open access data and software.
