    Description

    International legal frameworks undergird the righttoeducation across the globe, yet questions regarding human rights through andineducation are less clear and are arguably less present in schools and classrooms.  In this course, legal frameworks pertaining to human rights education and activism will be presented and discussed and pedagogical models/philosophies of existing human rights curricula and programs will be introduced.  Debates regarding cultural relativism and special topics such as gender and migration will be covered. 

    Training objectives

    At the end of this course, students will be able to : 1) describe key international human rights laws, 2) identify key thinkers in the field of human rights education, and 3) analyze pedagogical content and processes particular to human rights education.
