    Description

In this seminar, students will learn about different models of working time and the associated theory. In addition, the effects of certain work schedules – including home office - on the employees in the form of well-being, health and attitudes towards the company will be discussed. Furthermore, the positive and negative aspects of different working time models for the organization will be discussed.

The topic will be dealt with both theoretically and practically. Students will go into the field and analyze real work schedules and suggest evidence-based changes, if necessary. Processing time for the small field study will be provided.

Requirements to be fulfilled in the seminar to succeed

Altogether there are two requirements (and a third on a voluntary basis) that students have to fulfill:

    1_ preparing a podcast (max 15min) on a selected topic - teamwork

2_ carrying out a small field study (analysis and description of the work schedule of a self-selected enterprise in the field and elaboration of evidence-based proposals for change, if appropriate) – teamwork but the individual contribution of the prepared intervention will be evaluated

3_ on a voluntary basis: passing an MC exam at the end of the course (45 minutes, 15 questions)

Requirements 1 and 2 will be evaluated and finally flow into the final grade of the seminar. Details of the individual requirements are available for download on Moodle.

    Comments

The seminar will be organized in a hybrid form with as much teaching in presence as possible. Due to given circumstances, we start the teaching in distance and change to face-to-face teaching as soon as the COVID situation allows it. Activities will be organized over Moodle and participants will have access to Moodle and the information and literature stored there from February 10th. Podcasts and literature to read for each course will be provided as preparation. The class itself will be very interactive, active participation is therefore highly expected.
